Servo Press Electrical Cabinet Maintenance Guide

The electrical cabinet is the brain of the servo press. Neglecting it leads to intermittent faults, unexpected shutdowns, and premature component failure.

## Quarterly Cleaning

**Safety first:** Lock out / tag out before opening cabinet.

1. Use dry compressed air (filtered, oil-free) to blow out dust
2. Pay special attention to servo drive heatsinks — blocked fins cause overtemperature faults
3. Clean cooling fan blades — dust buildup reduces airflow significantly
4. Wipe down interior surfaces with dry cloth
5. Check cabinet door seals — damaged seals allow dust and moisture ingress

## Connection Checks (Annual)

Thermal cycling causes connections to loosen over time. Check:
- Power terminal blocks — retorque to specification
- Control wiring terminals — check for loose or corroded connections
- Servo drive power connections — these carry high current and must be tight
- Earth/ground connections — verify continuity
- Connector pins — look for corrosion or bent pins

## Thermal Imaging

Annual thermal imaging of the electrical cabinet identifies hot spots before they cause failures. Key areas:
- Servo drive power modules
- Main circuit breakers
- Terminal blocks with high current
- Transformer connections

A temperature rise of >20°C above ambient at any connection point requires investigation.

## Component Life Management

**Electrolytic capacitors:** Replace every 7-10 years regardless of condition. Capacitor failure can damage servo drives.

**Cooling fans:** Replace every 3-5 years. Fan failure causes rapid overtemperature.

**Batteries (for memory backup):** Replace every 3-5 years. Low battery causes parameter loss on power failure.

**Contactors:** Inspect contacts annually. Replace when contact wear exceeds 50% of original thickness.
